This position is for a Software Senior Engineer for Storage Products within Dell EMC’s Infrastructure Solutions Group.
The Primary Storage Engineering Team is closely tied to most of the development organizations, including the server platforms, RAID teams, OS teams, systems management, disk drives, Storage enclosures.
The position provides the opportunity for contributing to and setting the technical and design direction for a storage subsystem in Dell’s Primary storage team, and responsibility for its implementation into the larger server and storage product lines (NAS, SAN, and Tape).
This includes feature definition, development process execution and improvement, integration testing, fault isolation and resolution, manufacturing release, and resolution of design issues found in the field and during development.
This is a technical system engineering role that requires strong verbal and written communication; understanding and defining complex storage systems/solutions; and demonstrating engineering expertise and rigor through debug of complex issues for enterprise solutions.
Responsibilities
Develop, Design and Code Test Automation suites for PowerVault Storage arrays and JBODs (Just a Bunch of Disks) – ISG test automation framework.
Develop, Design and Code customer facing tools (Firmware updates, Setup and Configuration)
Participate in storage products RBODs (RAID Bunch of Disks) and JBODs requirements/specifications documentations.
Participate in setting up and configuring Storage systems (RBODs, JBODS, Servers) in the labs – Automated configuration
Participate in developing tools to help the support team to proactively diagnoses product issues
Work with Senior Engineers to obtain supplier management knowledge with the whole process (Supplier Selection, Request For Quote, Statement Of Work, Master Planning, Test/Issues metrics tracking, Issues Triaging)
Support Senior Engineers on security issues for lab environment and all PowerVault products
Work with support teams (IPS and services team) on customer fields issues.
Required Qualifications
4+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Design and product development experience with Enterprise Storage products
Strong level of engineering curiosity, high attention to detail and natural debug skills
Storage technology for File and block (PowerVault RBOD & JBODS)
Setup and Administration of complex lab network infrastructure
Networking and APIs (Redfish)
Operating Systems (Windows, RedHat, and VMware)
Familiarity with SAS, Fibre Chanel, or iSCSI protocols
Solid knowledge in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell
Proficiency in test, analysis, and debug of complex enterprise systems issues
Experience with Microsoft tools (Excel, PPT)
Understands system or enclosure design and effectively collaborates with extended teams
Bachelors Degree / Masters Degree or relevant work experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Working knowledge of key Storage Concepts and products
Programming and software/OS internals knowledge desired
Experience with JIRA tools for defects and test
Experience co-designing with a ODM or JDM partner
Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must have good analytical and organizational skills
Possess a positive attitude in stressful situations
Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment with frequent software releases
Ability to adapt to and work with numerous functional organizations
