Description & Requirements
Kraft Heinz is currently hiring a Category Specialist- Indirect Procurement – Transportation - in Chicago- Illinois.
The Category Specialist will be responsible for leading all strategic planning and sourcing activities for 7+ related subcategories (e.g.- Full-Truckload- Less-than-Truckload (LTL)- Small Parcel- Rail- Spotting and Shuttling- and Intermodal) with a total spend of $1 Billion across Kraft Heinz and 200+ suppliers.
You will leverage your experience and knowledge to lead a team who will build comprehensive strategies at the category level and execute the strategy through the sourcing process.
You will also drive program compliance through Supplier and Contract Management and sustainable strategies that will actively seek to reduce and control transportation service costs while increasing the business's efficiencies.
You will work closely with several cross-functional areas.
Your Responsibilities and Duties
Manage mid to executive-level clients and supplier relationships on an ongoing basis to ensure customer satisfaction.
Includes conducting Supplier Business Reviews – High Level Escalation Point for Performance and Risk Issues.
Support major supplier issues and work with stakeholders to identify and drive resolution.
Support Sourcing and Category Management for North American Transportation categories and deliver on performance goals for categories representing a significant amount of spend.
Includes supporting strategic sourcing projects for supplier selection/optimization to execute on the Category Management vision and strategies.
Lead discussions with critical suppliers around long-term objectives and strategies- ongoing market trends- innovation and technology advances- and potential investment decisions
Develop multi-year category vision and strategy based on the data- insights- and business requirements.
Build strong business relationships to increase influence over total category spend
Identify and evaluate potential value generating projects based on complexity- resources- risk- time to implement- and estimated financial impact
Manage prioritized portfolio of projects for the category in the near and long term
Execute highly complex contracts in accordance with policies and processes; ability to apply competency across categories
Maintain a strong understanding of category dynamics (current market- pricing- cost drivers- industry- and supplier variables) through trade groups- publications- etc. and communicates changes to business stakeholders
Manage Total Cost of Ownership at the category level through collaboration with Data Analytics- accountable for measuring and reporting value delivery

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven 3 to 5 years of experience in Indirect Procurement- logistics and Transportation and/or industry experience
Advanced in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word- Excel- PowerPoint- Outlook)
Familiarity with eProcurement Source-to-Pay tools desirable (e.g.- Ariba- Jaggaer- and Workday a plus)
Experience in Supplier Performance & Risk Management tools desirable
Experience with National & Regional Transportation Industry leaders is a plus
Have strong written- verbal- and listening skills
Able to effectively negotiate and influence business decisions and change
Have strong analytical- planning and execution skills
Can be forceful and direct as well as diplomatic
Able to multitask and juggle projects at varying levels of complexity
